When we start to embody ourself in the present, when we are more of ourself,

alignment flows and vision opens.

Katie Cooley

For direction, I draw from a lifetime of questioning the status quo and exploring the body-mind connection. Through competition, I learned about practice and co-creating a vision with others. Through yoga, I discovered techniques of inner alchemy and a chain of connectivity— a narrative thread. Through academia, I learned to articulate a theory and put it into practice.

Depth somatics is a way of talking about a complex neurophysiological reality that most of us face in our bodies; that our nervous system may not be working in a way that best serves our needs and goals, today.  The mind-body practice at the center of depth somatics is one of linking visualization to bodily feelings in movement, or image-moving-sensing.  Through the depth somatics framework, I invite you to meet yourself where you are and move safely back into your body in a resourced and regulated way.

Depth somatics has emerged out of Katie's research on embodiment and coping mechanisms. Katie has an MS in Integrative Medicine and Health Science and over 800 hours of advanced yoga training with many teachers. She is a board-certified health and wellness coach and a coach trainer. A former world champion in rowing, she is trained in Hanna Somatic Education in the tradition of Eleanor Criswell and is also Katonah® Yoga certified and currently studies with Abbie Galvin. She created the Spokane Yoga Shala in 2003 which she ran for twelve years. She now teaches online and in-person classes and workshops in the Pacific Northwest.
